I was one of 15 lucky ladies to take part in SUBSTANCE: A photography retreat with Jenna and Katie of Jenna Walker Photographers at Chautauqua in Boulder. Wow- what an amazing experience. What I loved about it was that it wasn't just a workshop about photography- it was a time to reflect on who you are, what you want, and how to get out there and do it. It was substance.
Before the workshop, Jenna and Katie had asked us to send in three pictures of our lives, and a favorite quote. I sent in the first three pictures below, which are all special moments in my life, but they also represent milestones in my journey in photography- my wedding day, our last family trip with my Dad, and our move to the beautiful state of Colorado. The quote I shared was "The grand essentials to happiness in this world are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for." I've added one more picture in this series as the next marker in my journey, a polaroid taken by Jenna upon arrival in Chautauqua. And I think it would be fitting to alter my quote to "The grand essentials to happiness in this world are something to do, something to love, and something to GO for." I'm going for it.
PS - I will also be sharing some of the images from the 4 shoots during the workshop, so be sure to check back soon!!
